Our life is fulfilled with electrical appliances – electric kettles, TVs, washing machines and many other household appliances. All of them work on the basis of electricity. Many houses have electric cooking stoves. If there were no electricity, it would be impossible to operate factories. We could not drive cars because their engines can only be operated with electrical power.

Electricity makes our life convenient and comfortable. Computers and smartphones can operate

only because of electricity. We can no longer imagine our life without the Internet and mobile communication – but they would not exist without electricity. Nowadays people care about the environment, and the desire for a cleaner world can be achieved using electricity.

Batteries in our mobile phones, solar power cells, all of them work on the basis of electricity. The desire for an ecologically-friendly transport led to the invention of electric vehicles, the very name of which is associated with electricity.

We can see electricity everywhere. And of course, it is very interesting to understand how electricity works, which principles underlie the operation of electrical appliances. And it is even more interesting to think about how to make the devices work more efficiently and consume less energy. The first step towards that is to learn more about the fundamentals of electricity and magnetism, which is exactly what this course is about.
