Bioinformatics Contest 2019 ★ 5.000

Again this year, it was a really fun contest! I had a blast spending a full weekend on it. Thanks and great job to the team, for a flawless year too: doesn't seem to have been any bug in the statements. It is also very nice that the problem gave partial points, instead of all-or-nothing. I wonder if solutions to the problems will be discussed at all, or not.

Here for the third time and as I see more and more people participate in this contest. The problems were well-designed as always, but I miss at least one autograded task (which we had at the first contest) where efficient implementation was also taken into account.

Great!

The contest is well-organized and poses questions that I thought were interesting and challenging. Having no formal bioinformatics or computer science training, I learned a great deal working out ways to solve the problems and then convert theoretical solutions into algorithms, all the while honing my coding a little. Along the way, through quite a bit of research, I learned how to determine the closed-form limit of a recurrence equation, write a Monte Carlo script, and use basic regular expressions. If you like solving problems and are self-motivated, the contest is a great way to force yourself to learn skills and concepts you might otherwise not. I looked at the competitive round questions from the past two years and am looking forward to a rewarding if strenuous 24 hours in a couple weeks.

Great course. I love algorithm design so these sorts of problem-solving challenges are incredibly entertaining.

Really challenging problems and a good contest to give a try to your bioinformatics skills, love it! Thanks to all the people who create these problems and the time spent on it.

All problems were great; even problem 1 had a loose biological theme. Partial scores were awarded for all problems, removing the "all or nothing" issues I had in previous years' qualifcation rounds.
