The course «Theoretical phonetics of the English language» is concerned with different phonological theories, key notions, and phenomena of Theoretical phonetics, methods of phonological investigation, interdisciplinary phonetic branches, the classification of English sounds, the syllabic structure of English words, the functions of stress, intonation and rhythm, the methods of indicating and describing intonation, the characteristic features of different British and American accents and many others.
